Much excitement for a special homecoming of sorts as I’ll be traveling by ferry to Sir Frederique’s homeland in the San Juan Islands. I’ll land at Orcas Island where I will reacquaint myself with the beautiful nature that inspired the Royal Kingdom of the Ponds and read some of my favorite selections from Sir Frederique von Turtlestein. This is a free event open to the public at Orcas Public Library as part of the Kids Fest portion of the lit festival. I’ll be reading at 10:30 am, Saturday, June 4th. After my reading will be the talented Rosanne Parry reading from her latest book, A Whale in the Wild. She is one of my favorite middle grade authors. I love the way she immerses the reader in the animal characters’ worlds. Nature has the best stories!
Fun bonus fact: Turtlehead Summit on Orcas Island was used as the inspiration for the final illustration in the story.
Copies of Sir Frederique von Turtlestein will be available at Darvill’s Bookstore.
